You can add new words to your vocabulary. How to do it:

• First, click on the search field (or simply press alt+n) and type in the word.
• If the word already exists in your vocabulary, you will be shown the page with your vocabulary article.
• If not, you will be redirected to the «Add word» page, which shows articles from external dictionaries («Yandex», «Lingvo» and «Duden» buttons).
• If you want to keep the word, select its part of speech and press «Add word».
• Great! You have got to the word article now. But it is empty. How can you fill it in? Read further.

It is really simple. A word article consists of five vertical tabs:

• Properties. Here you keep all the word properties like gender, plural or verb forms. Some properties are specific to a part of speech (like gender), some are common (like style).
• Meanings. Here you keep all the meanings relevant to you. You can browse external dictionaries and copy from articles all the information you need.
• Preposition and case usage. This tab is about what preposition and case a word collocates with and how its meaning changes (if it does).
• Synonyms. Here you can collect synonyms to the word you are viewing. Search can be made both by word and meaning substring.
• Tags. In this tab you can assign a word to one or more of your tags (see the section that follows).

Surely, you need not fill all those up, focus only on what is important for you.

You can access your vocabulary in several ways:

• On the main page of DeuHelper you can see all the words you have added for the last week (by default, you can change this by the selector in the left bottom corner.
• If you only remember a part of the word, type it in the «Find by substring» text field in the bottom menu bar and press «Enter». You will be shown all the matches.
• To arrange your vocabulary better, use your own thematic, semantic or any other tags. First, create one on the «Word tags» page; then add some words to it (see «How to arrange a word article» section of this manual). After that, you can select any tag on the «Word tags» page and see all the words it has.
• You can mark words you wish to print by pressing the little «P» button on the word card. After marking all of them, select «Printing» → «Print» in the bottom menu. You will see a page to print.
• The «Get N random words» link in the bottom menu bar can come in handy when you want to quickly revise some German words.

Go to the «Tests» page, choose which test and how many questions you want to do and simply press «Start».

Only words marked as active (little button «A» on a word card ) come up in tests. Getting a word correct a number of times makes it non-active, thus excluding it from tests.

Tests can be adjusted as to what words exactly you want to revise. On the «Additional parameters» sheet you can specify:

• word tag;
• part of speech;
• date of adding to vocabulary (only the last week's words are taken by default).

• Use it to review your vocabulary — search in it, view words from your tags or get a bunch of random words to revise.
• If the word you have searched for is not in your vocabulary, add it to fill in later on our website.
• You can take some tests on your vocabulary.
• When you are offline with a German book, you can keep record of all the words you do not know. Later, when you get online, you can easily add these recorded words to your vocabulary.

einige Tipps

• To type in a specific German letter, click a button on the top menu bar or press a corresponding key combination. To type in such a symbol capitalized, simply hold shift.
• When adding a noun, you can type it with der/das/die, like «das Pferd» — that will automatically add the gender to the word article.
